Counseling with Horses is an experiential therapy. Sessions are tailored to your unique needs and may include: creation of self-regulation skills; constructing solutions to problems; learning how to create and maintain healthy relationships; practicing new behavior patterns; and more!
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a modality used to treat troubling symptoms of trauma. It was developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro and has been extensively researched and proven effective for treatment of a variety of issues. EMDR helps us process memories which contributed to negative beliefs about ourselves.
EquiLateral®: Equine-Assisted EMDR is an animal-assisted approach to EMDR Therapy. It was created by Sarah Jenkins, MC, LPC and is an EMDRIA approved EMDR protocol.
These sessions offer a way to receive rest and relief. Respite sessions can include time with the horses, or simply outdoors. Respite sessions are not mental health therapy.
